Despite economic turmoil, federal student loans still guaranteed - so far

Despite the financial crisis and unstable credit markets, federal student loans - the loans offered by colleges - will remain guaranteed, college officials say. "At this point in time, student loans have not been affected by the financial crisis," said Lori Trap, director of financial aid at Washtenaw Community College.

Hateful graffiti image turned over to sheriff's department

The drawing of President-elect Barack Obama hanging from a noose found in a Student Center restroom was reported to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department on Nov. 17 - the day The Washtenaw Voice released an issue carrying a photograph of it. The drawing, above a pro-John McCain message apparently written on Election Day, was discovered by a Voice photographer, who took a picture of it on the night of Nov.

Google teams with WCC class to support Internet marketing education

Google has teamed up with the Washtenaw Community College class Business on the Internet to give students real-world Internet marketing experience. The Google program AdWords in the Curriculum was conceptualized by the Ann Arbor branch of Google as a way to teach local students online marketing techniques.
