"I've always loved doing art," says Jessie Krueger, an 18-year-old WTMC student and artist.
Krueger's interest in the arts began as a little girl when she would draw with her older sister Jamie. It has progressed over the years through various fascinations and hobbies. She became involved in 3D animation when she, her father, and occasionally her sister would play computer games such as Diablo, World of Warcraft, and Ultima. Other genres that she is particularly dedicated to are pencils, digital, photo manipulation using PhotoShop, and pastels. A lot of her artwork is based on illustrating fantasy stories that she authors.
She has always loved reading and writing, particularly the fantasy category. A favorite author of hers is J. R. R. Tolkien-especially his extremely popular Lord of the Rings series. Krueger even admits to having an "embarrassingly huge crush" on Orlando Bloom, the actor who portrayed Tolkien's elf character Legolas in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, and doing numerous fanart drawings of Bloom. Krueger herself has two major writing works that are in production, each measuring over 200 pages, which she illustrates happily. A lot of her artwork is based on illustrating fantasy stories that she authors. "Some scenes I just visualize so clearly in my head," says Krueger of her artwork-"a lot of art that goes along with stories. People, real people or people I make up. They're so real to me."
Krueger has digital manipulation running through her blood. Her father is a computer engineer and her mother, who was a stay-at-home mom who home-schooled Krueger and her older sister, works in the computer labs on the WCC campus and will be joining the computer faculty. In addition to being a student at WCC, Krueger is also an employee in the computer area and works with her mother. Her colleagues tease her about that, but she says "it's all in good spirit. We like to tease and have fun when we're not on duty. They're a fun bunch."
